Grzegorz GarbaczDr. Grzegorz GarbaczDr. habil. Grzegorz Garbacz, MBA, was born in 1980 in Nysa, Poland. In the years 1999-2004 he studied Pharmacy at the Medical University of Wroclaw.
In 2004 he joined the group of Prof. Werner Weitschies at the University of Greifswald (Germany) and started to work on the construction and optimization of bio-relevant test models for the simulation of mechanical and physical parameters of the gastro-intestinal tract. Working on this highly interesting topic, he graduated from his studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2005 and received his Ph.D.
His research is focused on the development of test devices capable of simulating the GI transit conditions, bio-predictive dissolution testing of oral drugs as well as the development of analytical methods and innovative medicines -
Sanjaykumar PatelSanjaykumar Patel is Sr. Principal Scientist at Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ. He has more than 22 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. His experience includes working on novel drug delivery formulations such as self-emulsifying drug delivery systems, amorphous solid dispersion, controlled release and gastroretentive, and parental formulation. His research interest is focused on developing predictive bio-relevant in-vitro methodologies to understand the in-vivo performance of oral and parental formulations. He has co-authored 18 scientific papers. He is an active member of AAPS and an immediate past Chair of the IVRDT (In Vitro Release and Dissolution Testing) community. He is a board member of the Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences-US Chapter in the area focusing on dissolution.

Werner WeitschiesDr. Werner WeitschiesWerner Weitschies studied Pharmacy and received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he worked as a scientist in the research laboratories of Schering AG in Berlin in the field of nano- and microparticulate contrast agents. From 1996 to 1998 he was head of a research department in the field of magnetic nanoparticle relaxation measurements at the Institute for Diagnostic Research of the Free University of Berlin. Since 1998 he is Professor at the Institute of Pharmacy in Greifswald. His main research areas are the investigation of the behavior of dosage forms in the gastrointestinal tract, and the development of nanoparticle based techniques for molecular imaging and physical therapy
